In addition to assisting with fundraising strategy and management, OAI has served in long-term roles in nonprofit leadership, including served as outsourced HR Director.  From start-up to mature organization, our intimate knowledge of the challenges nonprofits face allows us to counsel and provide both strategic and tactical support at every stage of the nonprofit life-cycle. 


Leadership and HR Management Strategy

OAI’s strategic human resource management services include:

  • Strategic, Management and Operational Issues.  We can serve as your interim Director of Human Resources, develop short, medium and long-term plans, set and implement a new strategic framework for your operations, and develop and roll out new operating policies and procedures to help you achieve your mission.
  • Organizational Development, Leadership, Transition and Succession Planning.  Turnover in key, mission-critical roles presents an on-going challenge for nonprofits trying to raise funds, run operations, and serve their constituencies.  As well as serving in an interim capacity, we can help you to evaluate talent both within and outside of your organization to ensure smooth transitions and support effective leadership.
  • Safety and Compliance.  From labor relations and unionization issues to occupational health and safety, risk management, and employment practices liability, we have extensive experience in federal and state employment laws as they apply to the nonprofit sector and tax-exempt organizations.  We can also advise on safety policy development and procedural implementation, work permitting and visa/immigration issues, worker’s comp, employee classifications, and data privacy and security provisions surrounding health information.
  • Employee Relations.  We can help manage the full life-cycle of the employment relationship, from engagement to retirement or termination.  We have extensive experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements, resolving conflicts, addressing sexual harassment claims, conducting internal investigations and creating and monitoring performance improvement plans.
