Success Stories
International Relief & Development
Our Challenge:
International Relief & Development’s (IRD) mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. Since 1998, IRD has provided nearly one billion dollars in humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations around the world. With just one month of notice, IRD came to OAI looking for guidance and counsel in producing a stand-out 10th Anniversary celebration that would be utilized as a cultivation tool to further their organizational objectives.
Our Solution:
In just 30 days, OAI produced a very successful evening reception and awards ceremony for IRD at the historic Senate Russell Caucus Room on March 18, 2009. Over 400 people, including Members of Congress, representatives from the State Department and USAID, Congressional Staffers, NGO partners, and IRD staff and board members were present at the event. The inspirational evening honored Queen Noor of Jordan, Senator Christopher Dodd, U. S. Representative Kay Granger, and the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (represented by Heather Hamilton) for their work on behalf of victims of conflict. Each of the honorees spoke passionately about the world’s collective responsibility to care for those in need, particularly those in conflict areas, and expressed gratitude to IRD for doing just that.
The Results:
With OAI’s help, IRD successfully increased visibility, made a noticeable impact on the new government administration, introduced Congressional members to IRD and their efforts, developed new partnerships for the organization, and celebrated their 10th anniversary with the utmost class and style. With over 400 key individuals in attendance, IRD is now hard at work cultivating these new friends in hopes of finding additional, long-term support for IRD and its mission.

"We've worked with OAI for many years now, and the longevity of our partnership is no accident. They consistently provide a level of effort and excellence that, year after year, yields outstanding events." -Mark Donovan, Vice Chairman, Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities
