What We Do: Our Track Businesses

As a leading nonprofit management consulting firm, OAI is passionately dedicated to delivering the highest quality of service to our clients. Through access to experienced leaders in the industry coupled with cutting-edge resources, OAI is fully equipped and ready to help our clients help others through successful strategy, planning and outsourced fundraising and management services.

Understanding the value of having established experts in specific nonprofit fields as members of the OAI Team, OAI has brought on Senior Consultants John Wm. Thomas Richard Gelula to lead our newly established Track Businesses: serving hospitals, education and healthcare nonprofits.  Bringing specific industry knowledge, decades of experience in raising millions, and in some cases billions, of private funds within their fields, and a senior level of involvement with our clients and teams, OAI is more prepared than ever to better serve our Track Business clients.

Check out what we have been up to with Antietam Healthcare Foundation, a client in our Hospital Track Business:

Antietam Healthcare Foundation (AHF), a 501(c)3 supporting Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, MD, is conducting a $16M capital campaign to support the building of a new regional medical center. OAI was hired in October of 2008 to manage the fundraising efforts to raise the remaining $8M of the $16M goal. Since we began our work with AHF, we have raised over $4M, reestablished key leadership groups, and held five cultivation events for current donors and prospects – including a steel signing for donors to “make their mark” on the steel of the new hospital. Our success in reinvigorating Campaign supporters is exemplified by the work of the Medical Staff Committee; this key group of physicians has not only raised over $1M from fellow physicians since last October, but has also increased their goal by $1M to ensure a fifth floor will be built in the new facility, which will provide over 30 additional beds in the new hospital. We look forward helping AHF continue to raise funds to hit and exceed the $16M goal.

See what trends we’ve noticed through our work in the Education Track Business

  • Schools that are in campaigns are continuing to raise funds aggressively
  • Schools that have identified strategic needs are planning campaigns to begin with economic upturn
  • Schools finishing campaigns are beginning to plan for the next one
  • Annual funds remain strong though off slightly in some cases
  • Development staffs are getting smaller and outsourcing all or parts of the development function is becoming more attractive
