AABB
Our Challenge:
AABB is an international association representing individuals and institutions involved in activities related to transfusion medicine and cellular therapies. Through its dedication to patient safety and continuous quality improvement, AABB conceived the U.S. Biovigilance Network, a unique public/private partnership. The Network will address the lack of a nationwide blood transfusion tracking network in the United States – a feature present in every other industrialized country. AABB hired OAI to help raise initial start-up funds for the Network, which is AABB’s newest and largest initiative.
Our Solution:
OAI offers operational and strategic assistance for AABB’s U.S. Biovigilance Network campaign. We assist AABB with all aspects of fundraising, including strategic planning, fundraising outreach and cultivation and donor stewardship for this complex project.
The Results:
OAI has helped AABB reach out to more than 200 corporate, foundation and individual prospects. To date, we have helped raise over $1.3 million for the U.S. Biovigilance Network and have secured commitments from facilities representing more than 10 percent of transfusion activity in the U.S.
Calling on OAI’s fundraising expertise and capabilities for outsourced development work, in October 2011 the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region engaged OAI to serve as an acting Chief Development Officer.
