Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care
Our Challenge:
Founded in 1988, Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care builds better futures for families through the delivery of free health care, education and social services. As Mary's Center reached its twentieth year and continued to expand its services throughout the DC metro area, the organization wanted to further engage volunteer leadership in fundraising efforts in order to increase the number and size of major gifts.
Our Solution:
OAI recommended that a Development Committee be created with the sole purpose of cultivating and soliciting major individual and corporate gifts for Mary's Center.
The Results:
OAI and Mary's Center recruited a combination of board members and current major donors to join this Committee. Once recruited, OAI conducted an orientation and training session to fully prepare this group to fundraise on behalf of Mary's Center. The Committee is responsible for raising a sizable portion of the overall annual fundraising goal for Mary's Center and within the first month was able to expand Mary's Center's major donor network by over 20 percent.
Calling on OAI’s fundraising expertise and capabilities for outsourced development work, in October 2011 the American Red Cross in the National Capital Region engaged OAI to serve as an acting Chief Development Officer.
