Washington Animal Rescue League

Our Challenge:
Since its creation in 1914, The Washington Animal Rescue League has been a leader in the field of animal welfare, caring for homeless and abused animals in our nation's capital and placing them in loving adoptive homes.

With severe staff turnover and a new Executive Director, The Washington Animal Rescue League turned to OAI for fundraising management. OAI was contracted to serve as the League's outsourced development department.

Our Solution:
After an initial in-depth discovery period that included donor data analysis, the OAI team identified fundraising challenges and opportunities for growth. The team followed with the creation of a realistic and comprehensive development plan that included monthly fundraising goals. With the League's approval of the development plan, OAI took over all development operations including leadership gifts, major gifts, direct mail, foundation grants, corporate philanthropy, and more.

The Results:
Within the first six months of the engagement, the League met or exceeded every fundraising goal that was established through the initial development plan. Further, the Board of Directors' Development Committee was created and a strategic approach was established for all future fundraising initiatives.
