Biography
Kelly joined the OAI team in November 2006 as a Director, and she brings her clients ten years of experience in non-profit management, event management and fundraising, especially in the areas of board development, major gifts, corporate sponsorship, cause-related marketing and capital campaigns.
Since joining the OAI team, Kelly has worked with several organizations, including Project HOPE, Arena Stage, The Metropolitan Club Preservation Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy, Lowell School, Antietam Healthcare Foundation, Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School, Higher Achievement, and Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care. Kelly has partnered with her clients in the areas of capital campaign management, development planning, outsourced development management (including major gifts, foundations, corporations, direct mail and online giving), budget development and oversight, campaign feasibility studies, board development, and event fundraising and management.
Kelly led the team that raised $2.9 million for the 25th anniversary of Project HOPE’s Health Affairs, the health policy journal. Kelly recently served as campaign director for the Antietam Healthcare Foundation’s Campaign for Washington County Hospital, a $16 million campaign in Hagerstown, MD. For Mary’s Center, Kelly led the outsourced development team responsible for meeting the charitable giving goals over a two-year period, working closely with the organization’s CEO and Board. Currently, Kelly is working with Arena Stage to develop long-term corporate partnerships, in part by building a new corporate board of business leaders in the Washington region.
Prior to joining OAI, Kelly worked for Share Our Strength, an anti-hunger nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. During her six-plus years with the organization, she managed 15 fundraising events for Taste of the Nation, a $4 million national fundraising program. She developed and implemented event fundraising strategies including corporate sponsorships, ticket sales and auctions as well as trained and managed the organization’s volunteer leadership in the field. Kelly also managed the organization’s annual conference, including program development and event logistics. Most recently, she worked in the creative enterprises and marketing department, cultivating and managing corporate partnerships valuing more than $1.5 million, including American Express, SYSCO Corporation, Tyson Foods, Jenn-Air and Samuel Adams.
Kelly graduated with a B.A. from The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs in 2000. Kelly is originally from Edina, MN, and has lived in DC since 1996. During her spare time, Kelly enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and hiking and running with her very spoiled dog, Gromit.
