Biography

Susan Kelly joined the OAI team as a Senior Associate Director of Marketing and Development in July 2011.  Since joining OAI, she has worked with the YWCA National Capital Area, Community Family Life Services, Suffolk University and Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington in the areas of development management, grant writing and major and planned giving.

Susan has worked over eight years in nonprofit development and consulting.  She enjoys assisting nonprofit managers develop the fundraising expertise they need to raise funds for important social and community projects and services.

Prior to OAI, Susan worked for a nonprofit consulting firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on a wide variety of clients including local chapters of Ronald McDonald House Charities and Goodwill Industries.  Additionally, she served as Director of Development at Richmond Animal League where she budgeted, planned and managed all aspects of fundraising, capital development, marketing and public relations.  As a Campaign Manager and National Peer Leader at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Susan managed two large charity walks which grossed over $500,000 and engaged thousands of active participants annually.  Susan has also worked as a consultant for the government and contracting arms of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Susan graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.A. in Political Science.  She and her husband, Richard, are the parents of two young daughters.  They enjoy spending time together as a family and partaking in two Texas favorites: Mexican food and country music.
