Biography
Tiffany Watkins joined OAI in March 2008 as a Director of Marketing and Development and brings over 10 years of experience in campaign management, fundraising, event management, marketing strategy, organizational and grassroots development.
Since joining the OAI team, Tiffany has worked with a variety of clients including Project HOPE, DC College Access Program, Shaping America’s Health, READ Global and OAI’s most long-standing client, Youth, I.N.C. (Improving Nonprofits for Children). Her work has spanned across all areas of development, including strategic planning, event fundraising, campaign management, major gifs, corporate and foundation fundraising. Her expertise in these areas has allowed Tiffany to successfully assist her clients in raising over $5 million dollars within the last year.
Prior to joining OAI, Tiffany served as the Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary of Congressional Affairs at the Department of Education. In this capacity she managed the staff, conducted and scheduled meetings between the Secretary of Education, Assistant Secretary of Congressional Affairs and various Members of Congress, and worked with the Office of Communications and Outreach to develop communications strategies for the Secretary’s trips around the United States.
Tiffany also brings over three years of campaign management experience from her work in the political field. She has previously served as Deputy Campaign Manager for U.S. Senator Jim Talent, Deputy Political Director and Director of Coalitions for Virginia Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Jerry Kilgore, and she served as Regional Coalitions Director for the Southeast region of the United States for the Bush-Cheney 2004 re-election campaign.
Earlier in Tiffany’s career she acquired organizational, event and grassroots development skills on a national and local level. Tiffany served as the Deputy Associate Director of Public Liaison at the White House. In this capacity she served as a liaison between interest groups and the White House. In addition, she conducted many issue-based events with the President and Cabinet Secretaries. Prior to that post, Tiffany served as the Southern Regional Field Representative for the Republican National Committee’s Grassroots Development department, where she acted as the RNC’s liaison to a variety of constituencies which encompassed a ten state southern region.
Tiffany’s career began at Merrill Lynch, where she developed detailed analytical documentation, and managed projects and implemented technology for International Emerging Markets, Debt Derivatives, Credit Derivatives and Global Foreign Exchange. In addition, Tiffany worked as a Marketing Strategy Analyst at Peppers and Rogers Group, where she developed many strategic materials for clients including benchmarking studies, storyboards and comprehensive communications plans.
Tiffany has a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and studied abroad at the University College London. During her spare time, Tiffany enjoys competing in distance running events, traveling and volunteering for nonprofits in the DC area.
