Biography

Sarah joined the OAI team in July 2011 as a Director. Through 11 years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors, Sarah has developed an expertise in strategic planning, data-driven decision making, partnership development, and nonprofit management.

Prior to joining OAI, Sarah was Senior Research Officer at the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), where she led the Research Unit of the Office of Research & Analysis. In this capacity, she oversaw NEA’s research portfolio, which involved identifying priority research initiatives, developing partnerships with public and private organizations, creating plans to disseminate results, delivering presentations, and writing thought pieces for traditional and new media outlets. She also was responsible for strategic planning and co-wrote the 2011-2016 strategic plan for the Endowment.

Before the NEA, Sarah worked in the Poverty Reduction Group at the World Bank, coordinating a 15-country study on economic mobility. In addition to managing the $4 million study budget and international consultants, she was responsible for analyzing the qualitative and quantitative data and writing up the findings for publication. Sarah also served as a manager in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program in San Francisco, CA, where she oversaw record fundraising for her triathlon and marathon teams.

Sarah has a BA and MA in Sociology from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a volunteer at Miriam’s Kitchen and is a member of Net Impact’s DC Chapter. Sarah is an outdoor enthusiast and, in her free time, enjoys exploring places near and far by foot and bike.
